The start of a new year is always a great time for reflection – a fresh opportunity to look back over the wins, losses, and lessons of the past year, and a chance to dig deep and ask yourself what is really working for your business, and what might need to evolve moving forward.

For us here at The Hive Members Club, we have now reached our first full year in operation. Within that time we have; hosted incredible face-to-face events with community members, organised and hosted a variety of online sessions, created some really helpful resources, and (hopefully) played a small part in the growth of lots of female property developers. Looking back, we feel incredibly proud of how many women we have connected with, and supported, during 2022.

However, within that time the world has taken some pretty dramatic twists-and-turns, a lot of which have had huge negative impacts on the property industry. The cost of living has rocketed, with a particular focus around utilities, affecting property developers and landlords everywhere. And because of this, we've all become so much more aware of how and where we're investing our money.

Alongside the current economic challenges, we've also seen a huge shift in the way that people are using social media. Instagram no longer seems to prioritise community and connection, but rather cold-hard sales and get-rich-quick schemes (🙈). We're facing a complete digital content overload, at a time when we all probably need straight-cut and tailored advice the most.

Taking all of this into account, we've been thinking hard about what we want The Hive to do better at this year, and what we can offer our members that nobody else can in the property development space.

Moving forward into 2023, The Hive Members Club will be making some crucial changes to our offerings, schedule, and pricing.

1. We're reducing monthly membership price to £19.99

‍We want our community to be financially accessible to all females across the UK that are actively investing in property, or who hope to one day see it as a viable option too. Because of this, we will be reducing our monthly membership fee down from £48 to £19.99, for all existing and new members.

For a really affordable monthly cost you will:

• Be invited to our new live Support Sessions each month – where you'll have access to tailored advice, community support, and an experienced mentor (typically charged at £595 a month)

• Get exclusive invites to exciting on-site events and workshops, scheduled to take place throughout the year

• Join our private Slack community – where you're welcome to make connections, ask questions, and share what's on your mind

2. We'll be focusing more on face-to-face member events

We firmly believe that we learn more, and build stronger connections, when we're able to meet in person. Being able to take time out of our everyday routine, and dedicate it to learning and immersing ourselves in property, is hugely impactful.

Our Member Meets have always had the biggest response from our members, and we receive constant feedback about how motivating and valuable our events are. Therefore, we want to focus more on these types of events and learning experiences moving forward.

We're happy to announce that we'll be scheduling in exciting on-site days this year, at a variety of projects. We'll be kicking off this new format of events this Spring, as we host our Commercial Conversion Workshop at Freemason's Inn (more details to be confirmed).

3. We say goodbye to Masterclass Sessions, and hello to Live Support Sessions

‍We've made the decision to replace our existing Masterclass Sessions, downloadable content, and Interior Design Clinics with new live Support Sessions instead.

These hour-long 'sounding-board calls' are designed to tackle things like decision-paralysis, overwhelm, under confidence, and time-wasting head on – in a friendly, relaxed, and safe environment, surrounded by experienced property developers and mentors.

Why the change? Whilst we know how valuable our masterclass sessions and downloadable content have been to our members, on reflection we feel that tailored support and group settings is where our members tend to thrive the most.

As property developers, business owners, and self-employed women, we don’t get the luxury of having supportive colleagues to vent to when things get stressful, or bounce ideas off when things get a bit tricky. It can be really hard to navigate through issues alone, and we don’t want any of our members wasting precious time and energy over something that can be solved quickly during one of our calls. You’ll be surprised how much a change of perspective and getting something off your chest can help!

We truly believe that these scheduled sessions will offer a great opportunity to speak face-to-face with an experienced mentor, as well as to a large group of women doing a variety of great work in the property industry. Mentoring sessions in the property industry (with an experienced mentor) can cost up to £600 a month – so we’re offering a more accessible option for a tiny fraction of that price!

4. Time to reignite our community spirit!

‍From the very beginning, we have felt passionate about supporting women in property, and building a strong and engaging community.

We want nothing more than to continue to be a positive platform and space, that champions women and consequently breeds success – to both improve the property industry, and encourage other women to see the potential of property investing.

To keep pushing forward with our mission to connect and support female property developers, we'll be focusing much more on our blog and Facebook Group this year – prioritising member spotlights, collaborative projects, and community engagement. So if you're up for collaborating, give us a shout!

Whilst you might feel a little disappointed at some of those updates, we believe that there is just so much content out there right now, a lot of which doesn't add any benefit and can’t be actioned. We don’t want our business to become just another one of those outlets.

The most important thing for us moving into this new year is our community. And our experience has shown us that our members value connection and tailored support more than anything – so that's what we'll be bringing more of!

Encouraging women to be confident business operators is our driving factor, and we believe the best way to achieve this is through face-to-face and online sessions that dig deep into your actual needs right there and then, along with the continued support in the community Slack space.
